A favicon is an icon that gets displayed in the tab or web address bar of your browser. You can enhance the branding of your site by replacing the default icon.

The favicon that you would want to use should be published via a file hosting service. You can host the favicon using your preferred file hosting service, or you can use our native file hosting service. Find out more information about our public file hosting service in this article.

To change the favicon of your site:

  1. Click the site from the Sites and Templates dashboard.

  2. In the Site Details menu, click the More tab.

  3. Under the SEO section, click Edit next to the Favicon URL field.

  4. Paste the website address of the hosted favicon.

You can also click Upload file to get a URL link if you would like to use our native public hosting service for your favicon.

  5. Optionally, you can customize favicons for your site when it is shown in Desktop, Android and iOS devices. Click Show advanced options and the following will be displayed.

Desktop browser and Google result pages: the most common icon seen on the web. This will be used in tabs, search results, and bookmarks when it is present. Use a 32x32 transparent PNG image for best results.

Tile background color: some devices will use this color if your image has transparency such as the Apple and Chrome icons.

IOS Webclip: will be used when a visitor saves the site to their home screen on an Apple device. This may also be used by other mobile browsers such as Firefox. Use a 180x180 transparent PNG image for best results.

Android Chrome (Small): will be used when a visitor saves the site to their home screen when using the Chrome browser on a mobile device. Use a 192x192 transparent PNG image for best results.

Android Chrome (Large): will be used when a visitor saves the site to their home screen when using the Chrome browser on a tablet. Use a 512x512 transparent PNG image for best results.

Windows Metro: will be used when a visitor saves the site to their home screen when using a Windows Metro device such as a desktop or tablet. Using a tile background is recommended. Use a 150x150 transparent PNG image for best results.

  6. Click Save.
