Archive or unarchive a site or template

Move inactive sites and templates to the archive to keep your dashboard clean. Archived items are preserved and can be restored.

Permission Required: Account Administrator, Content Administrator, Editor

Archiving allows you to remove a site or template from your active workspace without permanently deleting it. This is useful when a site or template is no longer actively being viewed or edited but you may need to retain it for future reference.

When a site or template is archived, its existing properties and configuration are preserved, including:

  • Analytics

  • Links

  • Team permissions

  • Authentication settings

  • Scripts

  • Meta tags

  • Other site properties and settings

Archived sites and templates are removed from the default search results, but they remain accessible from the Archived folder.

Here's what a visitor will see when they try to access an archived site.

Archive or Unarchive a Site or Template

Archive a Site or Template

  1. From the Sites and Templates dashboard, select the site or template you want to archive.

  2. Click the More tab.

  3. Under Site Management, hover over Archive.

  4. Click Archive.

The site or template will be moved to the Archived folder.

Important: An archived site or template cannot be edited while it remains archived. To make changes, you must first Unarchive it.

Unarchive a Site or Template

If you need to access or edit an archived site or template:

  1. Open the Archived folder at the bottom of the folder list.

  2. Select the site or template you want to restore.

  3. Click the More tab.

  4. Under Site Management, hover over Archive.

  5. Click Unarchive.

The site or template will be restored to the active area and will once again appear in the default search results.

Archive or Delete?

Archiving is not the same as deleting.

  • Archive a site or template when you want to keep its content, analytics, settings, and configuration but no longer need it in your active workspace.

  • Delete a site or template when you no longer need it and want to permanently remove it.

If you want to permanently remove a site or template, see Delete a Site or Template.
