Autoplay video background in accessible sites

Control autoplay behavior for video backgrounds in accessibility-upgraded sites. Covers WCAG requirements and user overrides.

Written by Troy Villasanta

Accessibility means that websites, tools, and technologies are designed and developed so people with disabilities can use them. Once a site has been upgraded and made accessible, it will not play video backgrounds by default. You will need to enable each of them if needed.

To auto-play video background on an accessible site

  1. In the Site Editor, click the video background.

  2. In the left navigation, scroll down until you see the Background section.

  3. Select Video from the tabs (if not automatically selected).

  4. Tick the box to Autoplay video.

Autoplay behavior is one of several WCAG considerations. For the full picture, see the guide to accessibility requirements for Zoomforth sites.
