By default, PowerPoint files uploaded to Zoomforth behave like any other downloadable file. When a visitor clicks the file on your site, the PowerPoint file is downloaded to their device.
If you want visitors to view and interact with a slideshow directly on your site, you can add the PowerPoint as a Presentation instead.
The Presentation option displays the slideshow in an in-page viewer, allowing visitors to move between slides, view the presentation in fullscreen, or download a copy of the original file.
Add a PowerPoint as a Presentation
When adding a tile to a Grid, select Presentation as the tile type.
Alternatively, select Presentation when uploading a new file to your Library.
When prompted, upload the PDF version of your PowerPoint presentation.
Wait for Zoomforth to process the Presentation. Processing typically takes around 30 seconds, depending on the size of the presentation.
Once processing is complete, the Presentation is ready to use on your site.
Why is a PDF required?
Zoomforth uses a PDF as the source for the in-page Presentation viewer. Exporting your PowerPoint to PDF helps preserve the presentation's layout, formatting, fonts, and images consistently when it is displayed in Zoomforth.
Before uploading your Presentation, export your PowerPoint file as a PDF using Microsoft PowerPoint.
For instructions on exporting a PowerPoint presentation as a PDF, see Microsoft's instructions for saving PowerPoint presentations as PDF files.
Review Your PDF Before Uploading
It is recommended that you review the exported PDF before uploading it as a Presentation.
PowerPoint features such as animations, sounds, and slide transitions may not be preserved when a presentation is exported to PDF. The PDF you upload is the version that Zoomforth will use to display the Presentation, so reviewing it beforehand helps ensure that the slides appear as expected.
View Presentation Slides
When a visitor opens a Presentation, the slideshow appears in an in-page viewer.
Visitors can move through the slides in either of the following ways:
Click the left and right arrows in the Presentation viewer.
Use the Left Arrow and Right Arrow keys on their keyboard.
The viewer shows the visitor's progress in the centre of the screen and with a progress bar along the bottom.
Download the Presentation
Visitors can download a copy of the original uploaded PowerPoint file by clicking the Download button in the lower-right corner of the Presentation viewer.
This allows visitors to view the slideshow on your site while still giving them the option to save a copy for later use.
View a Presentation in Fullscreen
Visitors can open a Presentation in Fullscreen mode by clicking the Fullscreen button in the lower-right corner of the viewer.
To exit fullscreen mode, visitors can either:
Click the Fullscreen button again.
Press ESC on their keyboard.
Presentation Analytics
Zoomforth tracks two types of visitor interactions with Presentations:
Presentation views — recorded when a visitor opens the Presentation.
Presentation downloads — recorded when a visitor downloads the original PowerPoint file.
These actions are tracked separately in your site's analytics. This distinction can help you understand whether visitors are primarily viewing your presentations online or downloading them for later use.
Presentation vs. Downloadable PowerPoint
Choose the option that best matches how you want visitors to interact with your content:
Option | Visitor experience |
PowerPoint file | Clicking the file downloads the PowerPoint directly. |
Presentation | Clicking the tile opens an interactive slideshow within the site, with options to navigate, view fullscreen, or download the original PowerPoint. |
Tip: Use Presentation when you want the slideshow to be part of the visitor's on-site experience. Use a standard file when your primary goal is to let visitors download the PowerPoint.
